Looks like we may have a air drop mechanic in Fallout 76. During a live stream I noticed a item called Government Air Drop. It was a container with a couple of interesting items inside. Here is what was found inside:
- Flare Gun+
- Flare
- Rad-X
- Purified Water
Update
Supply drops are confirmed to be ingame and are available when you find a item called "Government Supply Requisition holotape". You bring that item to a radio tower and call in a supply drop which can attract enemies and other players. After you make a request for the supply drop you have to then go to the location to loot it before other players. Very good weapons, armor and other items can be found in these containers.
