Workshop Guide

Guide on how the workshop system functions in Fallout 76.

Workshops can be found in various locations around the game world.  Each one has a different set of resource nodes that will allow you to place extractors on for harvesting.

Note: Some workshops have special factory like production which creates items like fusion cores, various foods etc.

To get started, you first have to reach a workshop location, clear the monster infestation and then go to the special terminal which enables you claim it.  The cost is around 25+ caps and then the capture event process takes around 30 seconds to complete.

If another player has already claimed the workshop, you can take it away from them but it will flag you for pvp.  Any defense turrets that are setup will start to attack you.

Next open up the map to see what resource nodes can be found in the area.

Here are a couple of screenshots of what node locations look like near workshops so you can find them alittle faster.

You then have to place special resource extractors over the node.

resource extractors

If you have trouble finding the resource nodes, once you know which are available at the location, if you select the extractor for that resource type, it will then show you a green location marker for exactly where the node can be found by looking around.

Some extractors require power to work, you will have to also place down generators and connect power wires to the extractor. Once you do that they will start to mine the resource which then you can collect from the extractor unit.

About every hour a new event may appear with waves of monsters that will be attacking the workshop area. Any defense turrets and traps will be activate against the attackers. Doing a good defense setup will work to make these hourly events easy to defeat.

Additional Notes:
  • Switching instance / getting disconnect - will most likely lose any workshop you had running
  • Build limits are different for workshops vs camp
